DRUMMOND ISLAND ROUTE

Drummond Island is a unique paradise that offers 27 holes of golf, one of the largest closed-loop trail systems in the United States, kayaking, birding, hiking, and biking. Check out the 17 Drummond Island shipwrecks and the Alvar. You will need to take a ferry at the end of the route to get to this Upper Peninsula gem.

GARLYN ZOO ROUTE

Garlyn Zoo was started in 1994. It is built on old sand dunes at the northernmost point of Lake Michigan. The Zoo blends well with the natural surroundings, which include towering Red and White Pines, Birch, and Maples. Garlyn Zoo is home to hundreds of animals, and it is the largest exhibit of live animals in the EUP.

GRAND MARAIS ROUTE

The historic village of Grand Marais, Michigan is located on the south shore of Lake Superior at the eastern gateway to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. History is everywhere in Grand Marais, with four museums, two historic cemeteries, and a self-guided historic tour. The Pickle Barrel House is one of Michigan’s most unique buildings, and is open to the public.

WHITEFISH POINT ROUTE

Whitefish Point is home to the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and the Whitefish Point Light Station. Other attractions at this location include a United States Coast Guard Lifeboat Station that was established in 1932, the Shipwreck Coast Museum Store, and the USCG Lifeboat Station Crews Quarters, where one can reserve an overnight stay.

POINT IROQUOIS ROUTE

Point Iroquois Light Station is a historic structure on Lake Superior’s southern shore. Located only 20 miles from Sault Ste. Marie, this location is perfect for a day trip. During the summer months, you can walk the spiral staircase up to the top of the lighthouse. This attraction also features public restrooms and access to a beach on the shore of Lake Superior.

TAHQUAMENON FALLS ROUTE

The Upper Falls of Tahquamenon are over 200 feet wide and drop nearly 50 feet into the Tahquamenon River. Grab a drink at the brewery, or hike the trail between the Upper and Lower Falls while you’re here. This natural attraction is the perfect destination for your scenic riding around the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

THREE LAKE LOOP ROUTE

Sault Ste. Marie is the perfect location for the motorcycle enthusiast who is looking to touch three of the five Great Lakes in one day. After taking off from Sault Ste. Marie, drive south to Cedarville, which is located on the north shore of Lake Huron. From Cedarville, drive west to the Garlyn Zoo, which is found on the north shore of Lake Michigan. Lastly, drive north to Whitefish Point, which is located on the southern shore of Lake Superior. Once you’ve reached the last of the three lakes, drive back to Sault Ste. Marie along the shore of Superior
