Native Cultures of North America Sailing on a Tall Ship

You have a chance to join Lake Superior State University students on the sail portion of the Native Cultures course.
Participants will go along on a four-day, three night voyage and will have the opportunity to visit important cultural sites on Beaver and Garden Islands as well as others in the Mackinac Straits. Along with these site visits, daily lectures and discussions will provide a comprehensive overview of the history of indigenous people of the Great Lakes region prior to European contact, and will summarize the different experiences and struggles that indigenous people have endured to preserve their cultural hertitage since European contact.
Date of the Sail is July 18-21, 2011.
Cost is $850.00 per person and covers accommodations and meals on board, and transportation between Sault Ste. Marie and Suttons Bay.
