The Upper Peninsula was voted best overall snowmobiling area, most scenic snowmobiling area, best trail riding, best powder riding and most challenging riding area in 2002 by the Snow Goer magazine giving out its Annual Snow Time awards.

The Upper Peninsula was voted best overall snowmobiling area!

Along the 1,000 miles of trail riding, you may need to plan an overnight stay. There are numerous lodging accommodations along your way to rest your throttle thumb. You’ll also need your energy to keep on riding so plan to stop at one of the many resturants along the way, for example, The Cozy Corners in Barbeau, Michigan.

For a $25.00 fee you can purchase a Trail Permit that allows access to all Michigan snowmobile trails for a year. This fee is also used to keep the trails in good riding condition.  You can purchase Trail Permits in Sault Ste. Marie at  Leitz Sports Center, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Holiday Gas Station, and Woody's One Stop.
