Sled-the-Soo, Our Streets are now Open

The Eastern Upper Peninsula offers a wide variety of things to do in summer, fall and winter. If you are looking for a wintry escape, the EUP is the place to go. Take your pick from twelve well-groomed trails that wind across the area. They provide over 1,000 miles of riding pleasure. Enjoy nature at its greatest wonder. Trails blanket the whitest of snow, sheltered by bridges of tree branches and sights that are just unbelievable. View whitetail deer and snow bunnies as you travel along the trails.

Sault Ste. Marie has recently opened up the streets for snowmobilers this year, where automobiles now share city streets with winter’s most exciting mode of transportation.

The “Soo” has always been identified with snowmobiling, thanks largely to its status as home to the International 500 endurance race. Our community is surrounded by a system of trails groomed by the Sault Snowmobile Association and local businesses put out the welcome mats every winter for another active snowmobiling season.

Opening city streets is regarded by many as the ultimate invitation to the snowmobile enthusiasts seeking the right combination of city lodging, restaurants and entertainment near wooded, well-groomed trails connected to the city by a tunnel beneath I-75.

There may be a chance that you want to go on a snowmobile excursion and you don’t own your own machine. Well, don’t go out and buy a new one. There are many rental places located in the EUP. If you happen to forget your suits, helmets or your trailer takes a turn for the worse, don’t worry, there are several places where you can replace your old with something new.
