The Guinness World Record attempt at most snowmobiles in a parade in Sault Ste Marie, MI has been working with the local DNR offices. The event is a permitted event with the DNR which means you do not have to have a trail permit to ride in the parade. Only snowmobiles that are participating in the parade will be exempt for registration and trail permits during the parade only. So those of you who have a sled you rider on your personal property, you are able to ride in the parade without permitting your sled.
Guinness World Record (GWR) Parade Instructions

*Register at one of the following locations and times to receive your bib number, wristband (to get into Thursday I-500 races for free) and your GWR collectible pin. Print and fill out a form now so you’re ready when you show up on one of the below dates. You will need your driver’s license and sled registration number.
Jan 30th from 4-7pm at City Hall, 225 E. Portage Ave.
Jan. 31st from 12-7pm at City Hall, 225 E. Portage Ave
Feb. 1st from 9 am-Noon at Antlers Restaurant 804 E. Portage Ave
Parade Line up:
The staging areas have room for the sleds to line up and for you to park your truck and trailer. We ask that if you have the ability to ride your sled to a staging area that you do so to allow room for trucks and trailers as space is limited.
Please line up on the lines provided. There will be a staging captain at each area. They will lead the group of riders to the start of the parade.
The Parade will start on Water St. and Ashmun St. It will head south on Ashmun, West on 8th Ave. and into the I500 parking lot where the 2 miles will be completed at the Checkered Flags.
VINTAGE SLEDS: Trailer your sleds to Water St. Recommended to drop sled off on Water St and line them up. Bring truck and trailer to the I-500 Parking lot so it will be there when you finish the parade.
The Vintage Sleds will be the first in the parade behind the Puffer which will be trailered as the lead sled in the GWR parade.

Antlers Restaurant: Depart staging area at 1:30pm. Please line sleds up on North side of Portage Ave. Off the road. This area has limited trailer/truck parking spaces.
Kewadin Casino: Depart staging area at 1:30pm. Please use the south parking lot.
Dondee Lanes: Depart staging area at 1:30pm. 3162 S. Mackinac Trail Rd
Ashmun Bay: Depart at 1:45pm. Portage Ave (under the International Bridge)
If additional areas are needed you can use the vacated Kmart Parking lot, (2760 I-75 Business Spur) and the vacated Family Fare parking lot (4284 I-75 Business Spur). Please see area trail map to proceed to the trails to get to the start of the parade. See map below.
The parade route will have snow put on it prior to the parade, it will then be groomed by our local snowmobile grooming organization! Thank you!
After the parade, the snow will be removed immediately to open the road back up to vehicles.
After the parade, you will need to use the trail system to return to your truck and trailer at the staging areas.
The police will be stationed along the parade route and at major intersections for traffic control.
-Please try to maintain a 20-mph speed limit.
-Please stay as close to the west side of the street as possible.
-Maintain single file line per GWR requirements.
-Bibs must be visible at all times.
Snowmobile parking at the I500 track is free to parade participants on the day of the parade only, THURSDAY!
Truck and trailer parking is available for $2 on Thursday at the parking shack.
This event is permitted by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Please follow all appropriate rules when riding the trail system.
