Runners crossing the international bridge during the SIFR.

Lace up your running shoes for September 23, 2017  and get ready for the unique experience of running across the International Bridge towards the Canadian border. Don’t worry you don’t need a passport because you turn around and run back across the bridge before you enter Canada.

When running in the Sault International Festival of Races (SIFR) you can take your pick of three different races: Half-marathon,  a 7.1 miles Bridge Run, and a 5k (does not cross the bridge). Check out the registration site here.

Always a friendly atmosphere at the SIFR.

The 5k is a scenic run/walk through the city of Sault Ste. Marie, but the real excitement is running across the International Bridge with the St. Marys River and freighters under foot. The early start and cooler temperatures of September make the SIFR ideal whichever of the three races you run. For more information on the SIFR please visit here for the official web page.

We could go on and on about the race, but a few photos tell the story so much better.
