Tanglewood Marsh Golf Course
Many people are discovering what has been called the best kept golf
secret in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. Tanglewood Marsh Golf Course has
much to offer. The beginner and average golfer will appreciate the
friendly atmosphere and unhurried pace on the course, while the advanced
golfer will appreciate the rewards of being able to place their shots.
Tanglewood Marsh is inside the city limits of the Soo and was carefully
carved out of an area that included wetlands. Working with the Michigan
DEQ, the course was laid out to preserve the wetlands and provide over
5,500 yards of play.
Sault Ste. Marie Country Club
Ranking among the oldest golf courses in the state, the Sault Ste.
Marie Municipal Golf Course and Country Club is over 100 years old.
Once a private club founded by a group of Union Carbide employees, the
Sault Golf Course has been a 9-hole layout for most of its existence.
But in the mid 1980s, the course was expanded to 18 holes, all of the
ponds were added and three of the old holes were redesigned. Well-known
Michigan architect Jerry Matthews designed the new layout.
Enjoy a casual round of golf, and watch a freighter cruising through the
St. Mary's River while you putt on the 17th green. Or take on a serious
round on the challenging layout.
