The holiday season shines bright in Sault Ste. Marie!

Enjoy the glittering decorations from the enclosed viewing area of the Tower or go up the flight of stairs to the open air balconies high over the city. The Tower of History is located at 326 E. Portage Avenue. Parking is ample at the base of the Tower as it shares a parking lot with the third oldest Catholic Church in the United States Holy Name of Mary Pro-Cathedral.
Prices are $4 for adults, $2 for children 6 to 18, and $10 for families. Children under the age of 5 are free to visit the Tower for Light up the Soo, but we do ask that small children be accompanied by an adult.
Hours for Light up the Soo are 5-9pm daily except closed for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
While You’re in the Soo
Before or after you’ve experienced Light up the Soo you stop in for dinner at an assortment of restaurants. If you’re exploring the sites of Sault Ste. Marie make sure to stop at The Antlers Restaurant it’s an attraction all on its own. There’s something on the menu for everyone and just the experience of dining amongst the 200 taxidermied animals is an adventure all its own. Hint: for a real Antlers experience don’t leave without asking the wait staff for the ” bells and whistles “.
For a true Sault Ste. Marie experience in the heart of downtown venture to the observation deck in the Soo Locks Park from 9am-6pm and you might catch a freighter locking through. Check Boatnerd.com to see if there is a boat headed for the locks.
You’ll see the synchronized Christmas Trees from the top of the Tower, but see them up close outside of the Avery Square on Ashmun Street in Downtown Sault Ste. Marie.
Christmas Lights are NOT Just for Kids
You don’t have to have children in tow to visit the Tower of History! Adults can make an evening of Light up the Soo by getting lost in the BARmuda Triangle after admiring a city filled with Christmas lights. The BARmuda Triangle is 11 bars roughly in the shape of a triangle all within walking distance. While in the triangle find your way to Soo Brewing Company for a festive Noel Divine Christmas Ale or a pint of Oh Tannenbaum made with real trees.
