Calendar of Events

The purpose of The Sault Events, Inc. is to create events that will attract tourists and future residents to the local area and to attract community members to this area to enhance our quality of life. The group will develop working relationship with various organizations, non profit groups, service clubs and businesses with the goal of promoting community prosperity.

Area maps of interest are located in various sections of our Web site. We have our Lodging Map above, Day Trips from the Soo, Shopping and Attractions Maps available for your convenience.

It is Spring and the Farmers’ Market is back! Wednesdays from 4:00-6:30, come downtown to catch up with your favorite vendors, and meet some new ones!

It will be a busy market with 20+ vendors providing spinach and other early produce, frozen chickens, maple syrup, eggs, baked goods, starter plants and lovely craft items.

Michigan’s Free Fishing Weekends: An annual tradition

Two days twice a year, families and friends can enjoy one of Michigan’s premiere outdoor activities, fishing, for FREE!

 

Pictured Rocks Days and Yoopers Ride Free @ Bayshore Park In Munising
Jun 11 – Jun 12 all-day

Mark your calendar for Pictured Rocks Days and Yoopers Ride Free. The dates are Saturday and Sunday, June 11 & 12 and is held at Bayshore Park in Munising. The festival, held by the Alger Co. Chamber of Commerce, will have vendors of all types, food, free music, kids activities, various types of entertainment and more. Last year we had over 80 vendors and over 6,000 attendees! Also Pictured Rocks Cruises will once again be offering “Yoopers Ride Free Days” on both days. This year they will be giving free rides to the first 1,500 Michigan U.P. residents each day–first come, first serve–in addition to regular paying customers. In order to obtain your free ticket, you must present in person a photo ID with an Upper Peninsula address at the Pictured Rocks Cruise ticket office that day. If you know anyone or would like to be a vendor, call the Alger County Chamber of Commerce at (906) 387-2138 or e-mail news@algercounty.org.

Soo Theatre Concert Series-Detroit Rock City KISS Tribute Band @ Soo Theatre

The Soo Theatre spring  concert series presents Detroit Rock City KISS Tribute Band. Group members describe themselves as having true KISS passion, “a live, in-your-face, energetic powerhouse, rock-n-roll, lean, mean KISS Tribute machine!” Doors will open at 7:00 pm and the band starts at 8:00 pm.

Want to volunteer at camp? Tasks include, but not limited to, working with food, helping with crafts, work in arena with horses, and facility items. Volunteers must be 14 (as of 1-1-16) to work in arena.
